Sana Beidaghi
Sana Beidaghi (“Sana”) is an Istanbul based artist. Sana was born in Iran, into a family of artists. With her pedigree, it was almost certain that Sana would become an artist herself. She discovered her talents at an early age. Her father, a Graphic Designer/ Illustrator, saw Sana’s passion and nurtured her talents. He however advised her against majoring in virtual arts since the rigidity of Academia stifled creatives. Instead, Sana is now studying cello at Mimar Sinan State Conservatory.
When Sana’s family first immigrated to Istanbul, she had a lot of times to herself. She spent the time reflecting on her experiences in Iran, and the experiences of other women from her home country. She started painting as a form meditation, and a way to exercise her voice. She focused her paintings on the injustices against women she observed growing up in Iran. She is now focused on exploring issues around women, freedom, and justice.
