Gothic (The God In Me)
This piece is part of Sena's "The God In Me" series.
Sena was inspired by the "goth" subculture, which developed as an offshoot of 80's punk rock music scene. Participants of this subculture are easily identified by their style and preference for the color black. They express their individuality by standing out and rebelling agains the complacency and perceived normality of dominant society.
This sub general presented an interesting subject matter for Sena because the genre draws inspiration from the imagery, style and fashion of earlier periods, such as the Victorian,Edwardian, and Belle Epoque periods. He challenged himself to represent this "colorful" genre, while adhering to the colors that are normally associated with its adherents.
